I can usually find something appealing in female pop flavors-of-the-month, but I didn't find the Cyrus VMA performance a turn-on in any way. At first I attributed it to the massive gap in ages between she and I, but then I thought how much more I'd have enjoyed the dancing/gyrating if Selena Gomez was the one doing it. The truth is, though Miley Cyrus isn't ugly, she is bland, and her VMA segment proved the lengths a bland person has to go to remain in the public spotlight. I wasn't offended by her performance, but just once it would be refreshing to hear that MTV refused to allow a desperate star to prance naked, opting instead to give a talented musician those few minutes on TV instead. I'm not saying half-naked women shouldn't be a part of the VMAs, but I'd rather have heard Mumford & Sons perform WHILE Miley Cyrus flop around like an overdosing speed-freak.
As for the people who filed complaints, what were those people thinking they would see on the VMAs? It isn't exactly The Lawrence Welk Show. These are people who watch shows hoping to be offended (and secretly aroused).
