While in San Diego, don't miss the Hotel del Coronado or Balboa Park. Ocean Beach is more for surfers (and I have it on authority the tamale stand also sells drugs) but it has a groovy vinyl record shop called The Cow that I swear was the basis for "High Fidelity." I prefer the beaches and bars of Pacific Beach, and a walk around Mission Bay is nice. Kayaking on the bay is the best!
