I'm back in California again (and there was much rejoicing), and pleased to see a high speed pursuit -- this time a motorcycle -- happening right near me. All of a sudden the KNBC chopper pilot reported he had to break away from the chase due to "weather." KCAL's chopper also broke away. Moments later, my Twitter feed revealed the suspect was in custody.
I was there. There was no weather. Very few clouds, no wind, moonlight shining bright. In this viewer's humble opinion, the CHP didn't want overhead footage of them using their new fancy SUVs to execute a PIT maneuver on a motorcyclist, so they got not one but two news gathering organizations to break away so Ponch and John could take care o' business. I'm actually alright with Ponch and John using some roughness to stop a fleeing suspect, but I'm not alright with the media bowing to their will. -- Kevin M. (RPCV) -- -- TV or Not TV ....
