The channel formerly known as HDNet, whose slogan is "Music is Back on TV"
(although the lineup also includes sports, standup and "Dan Rather
Reports"--and Viacom would like to bring up Palladia and those MTV and VH1
flanker channels that are still predominately music videos and MSG would
argue about Fuse), will start a third season of "The World's Greatest
Tribute Bands" on Jan. 6--the full lineup of bands, which expands beyond
classic rock standbys this season, is listed in the link:

Last week, while out of town and in a hotel that picked up the channel on a
HD set, I enjoyed seeing a repeat of an Alison Krauss "SoundStage" reboot
episode and have to applaud Mark Cuban & Co. (which includes Ryan Seacrest
in a minority position) for letting Rather stay on in the rebranding--his
magazine show is a very solid piece of television journalism, which can't
be said very often these days.
