"The Sound of Music Live!" pulled the biggest Thursday non-sports (i.e. NFL football on Thanksgiving and Kickoff Classic) numbers of NBC in four years (the 2009 finale of "ER," the last vestige of the Must-See Thursday days--and yes, I know that only the sitcoms were branded "Must-See TV") last night, with over 18M viewers watching and getting twice as many viewers as the CBS Murderer's Row of sitcoms (well, "Big Bang" and "2,5 Men"):
http://www.thewrap.com/early-ratings-sound-music-looks-like-hit-nbc/ NBC's planning a taped repeat of the telecast before the holidays and hopes to repeat it annually during the holidays--and we can assume that they will do another live Broadway musical next year--as dated as it is and perhaps Sondheim being too sophisticated for OTA network television (and the PBS telecast of the Lincoln Center concert with NPH, Colbert and Christina Hendricks being relatively recently), I would like to see "Company" as a showcase for NBC comedy stars of past and present--who can sing. -- -- TV or Not TV ....
