A hall of fame implies people will still be talking about these people years/decades after they are worm meat. It implies there is a legacy to their work, or that they upheld or sustained a legacy. It implies a noteworthy contribution or achievement .
I've reviewed the TV HoF inductee list. As with damn-near every HoF list I've ever seen for anything, it is laughably wrong in almost every respect. Ironically, some of the people I like (Bea Arthur, Sherman Hemsley, Angela Lansbury, and Paddy Chayefsky, to name a few) are among the first names I would never include in the Hall of Fame. If there were moments or scenes to be included in the TV Hall of Fame, then the abortion segment of "Maude" starring Bea Arthur might be something to include, but although I found her dramatic reading of Pam Anderson's book in the Comedy Central Roast to be nothing less than Emmy-worthy, Bea's not a hall of famer. If the TV Hall of Fame is recognizing Leno strictly for his business acumen, love him or hate him, his ability to continually fail in an upward direction for over 30 years ranks among the more amazing success stories in the industry.
