I dived into the index of The Daily Show videos to see if I could find
anything.  Since of the departed correspondents, only Carell and Colbert have
been most closely identified with the show (at least in my mind).  It appears
that with Colbert moving to his own show that there wasn't a goodbye as such,
and Carell did just one in-studio piece in 2005 prior to formally leaving.  He
didn't appear to be that present on the show in 2004, but that could just be a
fault of how the program indexes its videos.

It appears that Oliver's is a rare instance of playing the departure straight
and at length.  This segment when Rob Corddry left arguably takes the same idea
in a very different direction.

Oliver had the third-longest tenure (by years) of any current correspondent at
7+, which places him fourth all-time (behind Bee, Colbert, and Jones).  As for
total on-air appearances, I don't know how it shakes out, but I would guess his
guest-hosting run places him higher than fourth.

Subject: Re: [TV orNotTV] Stewart Says Goodbye to Oliver

Minor point of order: I think it was Stewart and Oliver were writing the bit
together.

Oliver's utter dissonance when Stewart dropped the bit was funny. I cannot
believe Oliver held it together to the level he did.

Has TDS ever done that level of goodbye for a correspondent before?

Finally, I don't think there was a bigger winner in television in 2013 than
John Oliver, and there were few people more deserving.
