There's controversy brewing that the late Dick Clark somehow operated with
an anti-gay agenda when he hosted American Bandstand. I've been critical of
my former boss in the past, but only because his company promised me money
for work I performed but failed to pay me once the work was completed
(twice). He was as tight with money as they come. However, his offices were
as gay-friendly as I've ever worked. The shows of his I worked on all had
openly gay men and women in the crew as well as performing on stage.

Of course Bandstand couldn't openly have homosexual dancers in the 1950s
and 1960s... no show on TV at that time could. You might as well say the
Dick Van Dyke show rooted out gays. But instead of framing this story about
two Bandstand dancers speaking openly about what it was like to work in
that repressive era in broadcasting, people in media want to target a dead
man. I have no reverance for the dead, but if you are going to target Dick
Clark, do so because he died owing me $3,000 and not because of a trumped
up story about him leading "anti-gay witch hunts."
