The Chicago Cubs, a team I've been following for 30 years, announced Monday that they were going to have a mascot for the first time: a large bear named Clark. Suffice to say, many Cubs fans over the age of eight looked at this as a sign of the apocalypse and immediately took to mocking him and the Cubs organization.
Deadspin, who was early on the mocking, decided it was time for an old-fashioned Photoshop contest. To help prime the pump of inspiration, house artist Jim Cooke posted a graphic of Clark (who for some reason wears only a jersey with no pants) with some of what we'll call "additional circumcised plumbing". Suffice to say, much joy was had (except for the ballclub: "'I'm disappointed at some of the unfortunate images that went from negative to despicable,' vice president of communications and community affairs Julian Green said Tuesday." which leads to the question "Then why the hell did you do something that *begged* for mocking?"). This would, of course, be the end of it, until CSN Mid-Atlantic decided to talk about it on their broadcast last night, and for some inexplicable reason, grabbed the Deadspin version and aired it for nine whole seconds. http://deadspin.com/comcast-sportsnet-airs-our-version-of-cubs-mascot-with-1501633812 * Actual comment made on Deadspin -- -- TV or Not TV ....
