It's a valid point, but I'm not sure it's all about her.

The niche in question is pretty much her and Andy Cohen, right?  Or if we look
at Chelsea Lately as a panel show, is it her and Chris Hardwick?

Could the marginalization be based as much on the gender of the target audience
as on the gender of the host?  Both Bravo and E! seem to skew female and
tabloid.

Is there still a lingering network bias (Comedy
Central being its own niche)?  Pete Holmes is back on with new episodes the
same night Seth takes over at 12:30.  I've seen little mention of it outside of
TBS promos.

Subject: [TV orNotTV] Chelsea Peeved at Bill Carter

In a HuffPo blog post entitled "No One Puts Baby in Parentheses," Handler
doesn't like the fact that in an article on the latest changes in late-night,
Bill Carter referred to her this way:  "(The only female host in late-night is
Chelsea Handler, 38, on E!)"--All of the other hosts weren't in parentheses:

She points out that it's not because of what anyone thinks about "Chelsea
Lately" (the soundtrack of which now simulcasts weeknights on Sirius XM's Raw
Dog Comedy channel) or that her age has been revealed (she's probably said her
age at least once on her show), it's just that she feels that she has achieved
success in her own niche in late-night that's being marginalized because of her
gender.  And even if you don't care for her (and one of our regulars has made
it very clear in the past that he doesn't think much of her comedy style), that
is a valid point.
