My brother lives in Calgary and he and his family (two daughters, wife)
went to go to those bars to watch the gold medal game this morning at
5AM. They couldn't get in because they were full -- at 5AM. So they
went home to the couch/sofa/chesterfield (I'm unsure which word is
proper American :-) ) .
Me? I stayed in bed and let my son occasionally tell me the score.... I
didn't want to move to disturb the dogs.

That would be my home province of Alberta, whose premier announced
this policy decision via tweet on Friday with no advance notice to the
local constabulary. There was much swearing about who pays for the
overtime for the extra Sunday morning shifts but overall it sounds
like everyone behaved. Weather in the low -20s (at that point it
doesn't really matter if you're talking F or C) probably helped.
(I have always found that Americans regard the term "premier" as
slightly too soviet for their tastes.)

I think I speak for all Americans when I remind you that we're two

Then again, you have a provincial leader who allowed bars to serve
at 5 AM this morning for the game, which, if it happened in this
country, would be both brilliant and suicidal.
