During last night's Angels/Dodgers preseason game at Chavez Ravine (LA), there was a 5.3 magnitude earthquake. Scully proceeded to calmly call the earthquake, then get back into the game. After the inning break, he gave more information, wove in a story about the '89 World Series, and went right back into the ball game.
I cannot stress this enough: Vin Scully is a better broadcaster than approximately 99.9999% of the people who appear in front of a camera or stand behind a microphone in this country, and is a better human being than 99.9999% of the people in this country.
