Another disappointing episode for me. The story was told well enough, right until they speculated about what would happen after we spun back out of the black hole/dark star. At that point, I assume the script indicated the following:
"Tyson reaches deep into his ass. Deeper than any scientist has ever reached. What he pulls out of his ass will be the biggest, wildest, most factless bit of random guesswork any scientist has ever revealed. Devoid of science, devoid of truth, we just go hog-wild with CGI, sound effects, and needle-drop orchestral music." It started out so good, with Tyson telling viewers (like me) wondering what existed before the Big Bang, "We'll get to that." But no facts. No evidence. Just shiny objects. Shiny objects might make good television, but they make lousy science. -- Kevin M. (RPCV) -- -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
