I'm guessing this puts her at the top of the list to succeed Charles Osgood, if and when he steps down. Osgood is 81 now, and I had assumed that Lee Cowan (Osgood's most frequent fill-in, along with Anthony Mason) was the leading candidate to succeed. But this changes everything. Of course, I've heard nothing about Osgood stepping down; this week marks his twentieth anniversary of succeeding Charles Kuralt as host. Cowan has a dash of the Kuralt/Osgood folksy charm, but the way he slouches whenever he's on the set really annoys me. Stand up straight, Lee! -Tim
