I think the other thing with going to comedians is that with the changing approaches to local TV (more people in news who think of themselves as serious journalists, less non-news local programming) and consolidation and voice-tracking in radio, there are a lot fewer pure broadcasters coming up through the ranks, and stand-up or improv comedians have several of the same skills in common when it comes to making it look smooth when working without a word-for-word script.
