Considering I've never met a person who says "I loved the Stargate movie
but never really liked the TV series", I don't see how this could be
anything but bad news.

FWIW, I'll agree that SGU was crap for 95% of its run - when the writing
was on the wall and the producers/writers realized that nothing they did
would get SyFy to uncancel the show, they finally got back to the business
of writing a Stargate series, and the final episodes were actually quite
good. Of course, by that point the damage was done.

But in defense of SGU, I don't entirely blame the production team, because
I strongly suspect they were under pressure from SyFy to make SGU more
BSG-like. Of course, in a perfect world, SGU would never have launched and
SG: Atlantis would have been allowed to continue.
