Does Schneider really mean: "and Hall's exit strikes a blow for diversity in late night."? This might just be a typo, but I can't really find an easy way to make the sentence work by changing a single word. "and Hall's exit strikes a blow *to* or *at* diversity in late night." is what he no doubt means, but both are awkward.
Or maybe he does really mean that getting to the point where a TV show fronted by an African-American can be cancelled without much complaint does "strike a blow for diversity"? In any case, the ratings were bad and the quality of the show was too, and that is why it was cancelled.
