Essentially, the idea of "We interrupt the news for some news...Now back to
the news." just feels bizarre.

A network news show should be competent enough to insert a breaking story
into a live newscast. I suppose if the story is big enough, they can bring
the rest of the network in, while for something less important, it can wait
for the 7:00 rebroadcast.
