According to comments made by Seacrest on the red carpet for New York Top 
40 station WHTZ (Z100)'s annual Jingle Ball concert (Seacrest's NY radio 
home), from the final 10 contestants down to the traditional finale on the 
last two nights of May sweeps, "American Idol" will only air once a week 
and contain both results and performances the same night this season, as 
Fox has duly noted that "Dancing With the Stars" has staged a little bit of 
a ratings comeback with the semi-streamlined once a week telecast (although 
it hasn't done much for semi-sister show "So You Think You Can Dance," 
which may be looking at its last summer) and that "Idol" result show 
coattails have not done much for new series with the show as a lead-in:
