As much as I despise karaoke and rank it alongside the McRib in terms of genuine evil, I confess I am somewhat saddened by the closure of the Burbank landmark that is/was Dimples (located on a triangular shaped block adjacent to what was NBC Studios and what is Clear Channel HQ (or is it I Heart Radio HQ?). As NBC Pages, we frequented the place often enough (it was almost a ritual to sing "Take This Job And Shove It" on the last day of pagedom). It is one of a handful of establishments where I (as part of a group) was asked to leave for being too raucous. It was -- put mildly -- a dump, the drinks were watered down, the service abysmal, and the music oftentimes painful, but I have good memories of the dive, and with its closure it feels like yet another part of my nefarious youth is gone forever.
