And from the era when Carson refused to appear at 11:15, since more and more affiliates were doing half-hour late newscasts. Ed and Skitch Henderson ended up hosting those 15 minutes, which had to be heavy on band numbers (with perhaps the occasional chick singer or standup) until NBC finally dropped the 11:15 segment and the whole country started at 11:30 with Johnny and his monologue.
