10 years ago, my condo association sent a note around to all owners indicating that FiOS installation was imminent - assuming all residents within a building provided the OK for VZ and their contractors to access the property. That was the last we ever heard about FiOS, and I've been angry about it ever since, because I feel like VZ pulled a fast one on the citizens of NJ.
FiOS was supposed to be the great red hope - a viable competitor to the monopolies of Comcast and (to a lesser extent) Cablevision. Finally, real choice for those of us who can't bolt a dish to the side of our residence. Ah, but Verizon is sneaky. Suddenly, FiOS 'isn't necessary' to satisfy VZ's deal with the state government to ensure that 80% of residences have broadband access because Verizon WIRELESS LTE service covers the service area that FiOS never made it to. So there are towns in NJ where FiOS is available on one street, but not available the next street over because VZ couldn't be bothered. And now they've pretty much halted all new deployment, meaning that if you don't have FiOS now, you never will. And the state? They're either unable or unwilling to do anything about it. Goddamn I hate this state sometimes. </rant> On Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 11:08:07 AM UTC-4, Bob Jersey wrote: > > The Verizon service, with just over 5½ million customers, quietly lets its > agreement with the Comcast-owned net expire... an AccuWeather product > replaces it...
