She does talk openly about her faith in her books, TV talk show appearances, etc. She had a bit of kerfuffle last year when she said she was "submissive" to her husband, but in general she doesn't engage in the extreme dialogue that her brother has become known for. And she's also tried to maintain a "secular" Hollywood career, although much of her recent work have been TV movies of the Hallmark Channel variety (clean, not very scary). Hallmark showed her most recent effort Saturday night (which my wife watched in one room while I watched Kentucky-Wisconsin in another) -- it was a murder mystery where Candace played a librarian who has a knack for solving mysteries (it's based on a series of mystery novels by Charlaine Harris). It felt like a throwback to "Murder, She Wrote" or similar detective shows -- not gruesome or violent, the main character is on screen 98% of the time and the "a-ha" moment comes with five minutes left in the show. I lost interest a few minutes in when they revealed Candace's "rival" in solving the murder case -- a policewoman who happened to be eight months pregnant. Said officer manages to save Candace and arrest the murderers while being in labor. That's all you need to know how head-scratching this film was.
