So for those who didn't tune in: You, in fact, could hear *everything*. A police siren on a car going by. A helicopter. The machine shutter on an SLR camera. The umpire's actual calls. In fact, on the WGN/WPWR broadcast, you could hear Gary Cohen from MASN in the background.
There were a few fans out in right field at the gate, and some on the balconies of a nearby Marriott. Hawk did, twice, go to the social commentary well, about how the poor cops were being held back from preventing the looting Monday night. Stoney, however, did not help by talking about the city at one point in the past tense "You remember all the great restaurants here..." And we've finally figured out how to solve baseball's pace-of-game problems: eliminate the spectators (time of game: 2:05).
