Obviously this screams alternate universe because Jay not getting Tonight was
never a serious option, but I never recall, in the 20-odd years of reporting on
this topic, that CBS was interested in anyone not named David Letterman for
11:35. CBS did what they did because Dave was leaving, not because there was a
change in host. Does anyone recall something I can't?
