James Andrew Miller (Those Guys Have All the Fun: Inside the World of ESPN) wrote an article Wednesday about Skipper being literally cornered at Tuesday's upfront and being peppered with nothing but Simmons questions.
http://www.vanityfair.com/news/2015/05/what-doomed-bill-simmons-at-espn An unbelievable story out of that: when Simmons was suspended for three weeks last week for telling the truth about Roger Goddell, two weeks were supposed to be unpaid. Simmons got his next paycheck and saw no deduction, thinking that this was an olive branch from Bristol. On the last paycheck of the year, without additional warning, ESPN deducted the two weeks. After you read the article, it's pretty obvious that Skipper shivved Simmons because of the Dan Patrick interview, and had no plan or thought on what to do afterwards. For heaven's sake: it's been a week, and there's still a "SIMMONS" header on grantland.com! This is going to make Olberman's departure look damn near gentlemanly.
