Also, I'm not sure why this is a big shock...in one of the Simpsons stories set in the Future (not Lisa's wedding - the one where Bart gets access to Professor Frink's time-TiVo), Homer and Marge are divorced and Homer lives in an apartment at the bottom of the ocean (complete with decompression chamber). Homer and Marge have broken up more times than Liz Taylor got divorced - but they always end up back together.
