...outside dad's house, as a plumbing contractor is cutting open his front sidewalk to get at an abandoned pipe once attached to the city water line, which was funnelling ground water from a leak (since plugged) at a neighbour's place into our basement... the water utility vowed to shut dad's service off if he didn't do something, and the whole job's going to run him north of $2k... updates to come, if nothing catastrophic occurs...
