The general conclusion is that this is a terrific deal for the NHL. BAM takes over the design of nhl.com and team websites, though the teams retain control of editorial content. The perception is that the NHL and team websites were becoming outdated and this will be an improvement. The NHL Network studios will move from Toronto to the Secaucus studio building of the MLB Network. That in itself might not be an upgrade, but hockey writers feel that the NHL Network is not on a level of the MLB Network or the NFL Network so this could be an opportunity to improve. BAM sets the standards for streaming live video today so it can only be an improvement to have them handle the Center Ice and Game Center Live streams for out-of-market games. The possible downside is that MLB strictly polices fan generated video content like vines and gifs and takes them down. The NHL has encouraged this kind of content and it remains to be seen which policy will prevail. -- -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
