A five-season deal where HBO gets exclusive rights to the new shows for
nine months, then PBS gets it for free. HBO also licenses 150 old episodes
to fill in gaps as the new season launches. The same goes with digital
rights: PBS holds onto the old episodes; HBO gets the digital rights with
the new ones for the nine months, then PBS gets them as well.

As someone who's just dived back into this world with my almost
two-year-old (he's both an Elmo and Abby fan), I'm really torn about this.
I mean I get it, it fundamentally supports one of the greatest children's
television shows ever, but this just seems so very, very wrong.
