The longtime (1958-82) partner of Norman Lear, first in live TV variety, later the big screen, then back to TV with *All In The Family*, *Maude,* and *Sanford And Son*. He was reportedly still attached in some way to an updated version of '80s sci-fi favorite *Blade Runner* which has sat on a shelf since 2012.
