In Wednesday's monologue, Colbert talked about how, after they edited the
show down to time, computer problems almost prevented it from making air.
He also mentioned that portions of both Clooney's and Jeb!'s interviews
that had been cut were available on the website. I haven't watched them; I
hope they're better than what got on the air.

For a first show, I was surprisingly unimpressed. The Oreo bit was
something that would have been fine on the 1027th show, or even the 27th,
where it's conceived in the morning, produced in the afternoon, and taped
that evening. With months to prepare, though, I expected a great collection
of Trump clips, not just an OK one. Overall, the writing didn't strike me
as particularly sharp; I hope they'll hone that as they go. Of course, the
show will evolve in the short and long terms, so we'll see what happens.
