When I clerked in a DA's office, I encountered cops from more than half a dozen LEOs. Of all of them, only a handful were women. Of those, only one was what would be conventionally defined as gorgeous. I recall when the networks forced NYPD Blue and Homicide Life on the Street to hire FHM and Maxim cover girls as cops. I'm not saying women can't be cops (they can), nor am I saying female cops can't be attractive (they can), but Ms Lopez is beautiful to a degree where it is intimidating to be in close proximity to her. I watched Out of Sight and liked it, but she just isn't convincing as a cop. It isn't my intention to sound sexist, though I'm sure that'll be how it reads to some. Female cops have to fight ten times harder to advance in the ranks, and the ones who do advance don't waste five hours a day doing their hair and makeup. I'm not saying there should be a cop show featuring ugly women as cops, but how about a cop show featuring more down-to-earth beauties as cops?
