The Worldwide Leader also found someone to take over The Undefeated after
finally ditching Jason Whitlock.

I have to think everyone there is at least a little bit concerned, especially
with the same kind of assurances given The Undefeated that Grantland received.

It is hard to understate how much ESPN management has destroyed their trust
with employees with this.
Here, from a whopping 11 days ago, is Jim Miller on Grantland's future:
http://www.vanityfair.com/news/2015/10/espn-bill-simmons-breakup
"Insiders at Grantland point out that in the aftermath of Simmons’s suspension,
executive vice president Marie Donoghue told the staff that they 'shouldn’t
worry, because whether or not Bill stays at ESPN, the company is committed to
Grantland.'"
To go in five months from that to "we're killing the site" is positively
Onionesque.
