My favorite “backstage” story from the show was from Andre Royo, who played the heroin-addicted “Bubbles” on the show. They often did guerilla filming on the streets of Baltimore, keeping the cameras and crew hidden as much as possible. Royo said he was between takes one day, and a civilian walked up to him and handed him a bag of heroin, saying he looked like he needed a fix. He now refers to that as his “street Oscar.”
