his best-known role, Trapper John in the early seasons of *M*A*S*H,* and 
would stay in the fringes of limelight through the 2000s (e.g. filling in 
as ex-Major Nelson in a mother-and-daughter *I Dream of Jeannie* made-for 
in 1985), all the while developing another career as an investment banker 
and businessman who would show up as a contributor on business-news TV 
practically to the end... from complications of pneumonia in LA; 82.
