My understanding is that the brands Yahoo News, Yahoo Sports, and Yahoo Finance
will survive (along with Yahoo Tech, apparently).

I was given a Yahoo layoff notice today, along with most if not all of my team
-- we're responsible for quality enforcement of many of the ads that appear on
Yahoo and other sites that use Yahoo's Gemini ad platform (basically, every ad
that wouldn't be considered a display ad). However, we'll still be on the job
for 2 months during a "transition" to, um, well, I'm not sure what they're
going to transition to.

To give you an idea of one of the things I did: I recognize the name Dan Tynan,
quoted in the article to which Kevin linked, as someone who would sometimes
complain about ads appearing in the "stream" on various Yahoo properties. I'd
investigate to see if the ads met Yahoo guidelines, or if they were
non-compliant and had slipped through (and how they had slipped through).
