I think you might be disappointed in such a behind-the-scenes glimpse. In a show that tapes multiple episodes a day, a control room becomes a thing of routine. Who wins vs who loses changes very little except which # camera is called for the reaction shot. I've been in control rooms during game shows, award shows, and newscasts and seen people doing crosswords during production. It is possible that Jennings was an exception to that, but life in the proverbial booth tends to be routine -- in fact, directors do not generally like it if something isn't routine, as it forces everybody into panic mode.
