MSNBC's marginalization of MHP was not race-based per se, but it was part
of their intentional re-branding towards straight ahead news and away from
leaning into the left. MHP's show was about diversity, not just politics;
they told her to focus on the election, she refused, and they punished her
by pre-empting her show for three weeks.

Her main mistake was not realizing that being sent to Saturday morning was
already marginalization. MSNBC is allowed to re-define her show, she is
allowed to refuse, they are allowed to fire her (with proper settlement,
depending on her contract, which they are apparently in the process of
working out).

I like MHP and her voice, and the voices she gives air to, are important
and need to be on television. If MSNBC had not tried to make itself a
leftist version of Fox News maybe it would have the credibility to give her
the space to do the kind of show she does. In an ideal world they would
find a thoughtful conservative voice and give them a similar show too.
