Before the era of craft beer, outside of Europe beer was found where there were German or Czech immigrants and access to some form of basic ingredients. Usually because of the lower quality of local barley or yeast the beers never were up to the quality of European beers. Still, they were drinkable and they built large enough local followings to lead to big industrial breweries. So legacy Mexican beers are nothing special - for decades, if you were in Mexico and thirsty for a beer, you'd be content with Dos Equis, Tecate, Sol, or whatever was at hand. But if you are in a beer bar north of the Mexican border with twenty, thirty, or more beers from around the world, and you order a Dos Equis out of curiosity, there is no reason to order a second one. -- -- TV or Not TV ....
