Oh, wait a second…I get it now. “There wasn’t a cold open once this week,” and
that once was Thursday night.

Odd phrasing, but ignore me…I’m caught up. :)

???? Are we using a different definition of “cold open”? There was a cold
open *every* night this week, except Thursday.

Monday – Hillary Clinton in Katz’s Deli

Tuesday – Abe Lincoln and Robert E. Lee sucking face behind Colbert’s
commentary about North Carolina’s HB2.

Wednesday – Cartoon Donald Trump celebrating in his dressing room.

Thursday – none

Friday – Backstage “Game of Thrones” parody with Stephen and Nikolaj
Coster-Waldau.

Other than that first part of your point, I agree…I love all the cold openings.

There wasn't a cold open once this week, which is too bad, since I think not
starting immediately with the theme song is a nice change from the other show.

There's also a new arrangement of the opening credit music. The break is
shorter between the end of the guest announcements and "And now its time for
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" and Stay Human now repeats the last bit of
the theme as Stephen walks out.

True, although Colbert's taped cold opens are usually longer, and post-titles,
Colbert is usually at the desk. On last night's show, Colbert entered from
behind the screen after the "zoom into the Ed", he performed a standard
monologue (less the 'one more thing' joke that usually punches out to the
titles), then had Stay Human play him over to the desk. But I agree - let's
see what happens tonight.

Wait for tonight's show to be sure, as Monday's started with a cold open. In
those cases, Colbert's Late Show does cold open into the opening credits.

Moi, Thursday (14):

The show of Stephen has been "uneven," per insiders telling Variety
