Purdue University-owned WBAA in Lafayette, IN is dropping Ira Glass' "This
American Life" in protest over the show and its sister podcast "Serial"
being offered on Pandora, another instance of public radio station
discontent over their program suppliers dabbling in new media (recently, in
response to station complaints NPR has announced that it will not promote
its extensive lineup of podcasts on their drive time news shows or the NPR
One app that allows listeners to customize podcasts and news stories from
the network and its affiliates) and a sense of Glass, after years of doing
very imaginative pledge drive bits for stations (often the only listenable
pledge drive segments), being unfaithful to who brought him to the
dance--Glass responds that "TAL"'s podcast success and placement on Pandora
is only bringing additional listeners who don't listen to public radio and
might be tempted to hear more:

Meanwhile, WBAA, like too many public radio stations, continue to run the
years-old reruns of "Car Talk" on Saturday mornings because public radio
programmers are too damn scared to try anything new and because it's still
a pledge-getter. (As far as I can tell, only WNYC in NY, KCRW in LA and
WBEZ in Chicago have dropped "Car Talk" completely--when Ray Magliozzi
retired in 2012 and effectively ended first-run production, Glass called on
stations to drop the show and try something new--for the record, Glass has
said that when he retires, "TAL" will also end.) And don't forget that
Sirius XM's NPR channel has never carried the drive time news shows due to
affiliate disapproval (although it does carry the midday "Here and Now"
produced by WBUR in Boston).
