To separate the issues:

The incident at the Padres game involved someone inadvertently cueing up
the singer from the previous night (they use a prerecorded version as a
backup/background), and no one bothering to stop it. The ballclub
apologized, they fired the contractor, we move on.

The "let's ditch the anthem" argument is one of those things that comes up
every couple years by someone. And the general response to this is

(a) They're exactly right,
(b) It'll never happen because,
(c) 'MURICA!

I think I've mentioned this before around here: I have no problem standing
respectfully for the anthem, but I refuse to play along with the bullshit
patriotism (like dragging out a soldier for a standing ovation, sponsored
by Budweiser)*. I also refuse to stand for God Bless America. I've been
chastised by strangers for this. And I really don't care.

* Don't even get me started with my reunions at sporting event hot take.
