The intensely perky musical theater star Kristin Chenoweth will play Velma Van Tussle, the heavy of "Hairspray," played by Michelle Pfeiffer in the film, Linda Hart (who?) on Broadway and Deborah Harry in the original John Waters nonmusical film--of course, it does come to mind that Chenoweth played a similar character on "Good Christian Bit"--uh, "GCB," so may it's all not all that surprising:
