I don't know if The Nightly Show will join them, but The Daily Show will be at 
both.

As I either don't remember or had totally shifted to Letterman by 1996, is the 
Leno clone criticism specific to Colbert's bookings?  FWIW, I don't think 
that's filtered through to the musical guests.
As for Colbert himself not being at the conventions, could CBS be concerned 
about him overshadowing their news operation?
