Since I started the thread I will report that I watched quite a bit of the games on NBC over this past weekend and I thought NBC did a reasonable job. I watched indoor volleyball and water polo during the afternoons and track and field last night. Even if the backbone of coverage and choice of games to broadcast is still America-centric the announcers are not being obnoxious about it. Now that so many elite athletes train in the US or attend American universities it becomes counterproductive to treat the games as us vs the world. In the US/Hungary womens' water polo match the color analyst noted that when the games are over the Hungarian captain will return to Stanford to start the school year.
In the track portion, maybe it was because they did not have to introduce Usain Bolt and Justin Gatlin to the audience, but the background videos they did on them were focused on sports, which I liked. And the commercials, while frequent were of better quality than what I see or change the channel to get away from. -- -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
