All I can say Kevin is that what you are reporting has definitively not been my experience recently. I am seeing a high fraction of Breitbart articles and fake news stories, similar to the McCain piece I shared earlier today. I have never seen anything like this ever showing up in my actual FB feed - none of my friends post anything like that, and I certainly have never shared anything like it on my page, nor have I ever clicked on anything like that anywhere on the internet, until they started showing up on the FB. Perhaps the FB algorithm notices that I post a lot about politics, but it apparently has no sensitivity to either my location within the political geography, not the level of discourse I most often engage political discussions at. This, in fact, is my point; I see no utility to FB in pushing this kind of material to me. Even if I were the kind of person who only wanted to read material that was consistent with my POV (I am not), they are doing a really bad job of it, and a lot of what they are pushing could not be better designed to turn me off from using the site. Maybe there is some angry white guy in Modesto getting the articles that were intended for me, I don't know. But I am quite sure that this algorithm is not working the way FB wants it to be working - from a marketing standpoint, forgetting about any journalistic responsibility they may or may not have.
