Since the subject of Twitter came up, I make it a habit of blocking any business that posts a promoted ad on Twitter, even if I like the business. I also report ads as "offensive" spam. On an account I've had for several years, I saw very few ads. Until recently.
Twitter now allows businesses a workaround. Businesses can now pay other users to post ads on their behalf, which then get plopped into my feed as "promoted by Buick," even though I long ago blocked Buick. This annoys me.
