I know I stopped responding well to political satire. I know the story of Tom Lehrer giving up his career in satirical music after Henry Kissinger won the Noble Peace Prize. It's only been the past couple years when I understood his decision.
I will always find humor in dark places, but I just can't laugh at Trump jokes. I can't laugh at Trump's "deplorable" cult. Friends reassure me he won't win, but it has been my experience that the American people don't always make wise decisions in the voting booth, and my stomach churns at the idea of a Trump White House.
