I think that is much more a function of the differences in the characteristics of the race than any change in management at Fox News. Four years ago the Romney people were absolutely convinced by their flawed (too many white people) turnout models that they were going to win, and there was actual data in the polls to support it. Everyone (media talking heads, surrogates, journalists) who fed at the Republican trough spouted that message non-stop throughout the last weekend up through (famously) even past when all the networks called the race for Obama. Nate Silver was one of the few who pushed back against this narrative - and it was based on some objective evidence, as several national polls showed the race too close to call.
That is not the case now. Trump may surprise the world and win, as it is not out of reach, but every serious political observer knows that the poll evidence clearly shows Hillary ahead by 2 to 4 points. If Trump wins, it will be a case of significant error in the polls, not something that even die hard Republicans could claim they saw in the polls ahead of time.
